Indian Vessel Shivalik Reaches Indian Coast With 46,000 Metric Tons of LPG

Gandhinagar: An Indian vessel carrying 46,000 metric tonnes of LPG has arrived at Mundra Port, providing relief amid concerns over cooking gas supplies. The ship, Shivalik, will offload 20,000 tonnes of LPG at Mundra and the remaining 26,000 tonnes at Mangaluru.

Another LPG vessel, Nandadevi, is expected to arrive on Tuesday. With the arrival of both ships, a total of 92,712 metric tonnes of LPG will reach India.

Meanwhile, the oil tanker Jag Ladki is currently sailing safely towards India carrying 81,000 tonnes of Murban crude oil from the United Arab Emirates.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways confirmed that all Indian sailors operating in the Persian Gulf region are safe. At present, 611 seafarers are on board 22 Indian-flagged ships in the area, and no incidents have been reported in the past 24 hours.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankarinformed that India is holding direct talks with Iran to ensure smooth cargo movement through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

He noted that around 20% of the world’s oil trade passes through the Strait of Hormuz, making it vital for global energy supply. The minister said diplomatic coordination is already showing results, citing the arrival of ships like Shivalik and Nandadevi.

To avoid delays in unloading LPG cargo, authorities have arranged priority berthing and streamlined documentation facilities at Mundra Port, according to Special Secretary of Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Rajesh Kumar Sinha.
