Leopard Sighting Sparks Fear at IIT Bombay Campus After CCTV Captures Attack on Dog

Mumbai: A leopard has triggered panic on the IIT Bombay campus after CCTV footage emerged showing the animal attacking a dog within the campus premises. The incident has left students and nearby residents alarmed. It took place near the staff hostel area of the IIT Bombay campus in Powai.
The incident occurred at around 2 am on Friday. CCTV footage shows the leopard attacking the dog near a staircase by the hostel premises. The footage also shows the leopard biting and shaking the dog by the neck, killing it, before dragging the carcass away.
With the leopard's presence increasing in close proximity to a residential area, students, staff and local residents on campus are gripped by fear. While leopards have been spotted in the Powai area before, owing to its proximity to forested terrain, an attack occurring this close to residential premises has heightened concern among the people in the area.
