Women’s College in Delhi Shifts Classes Online After 17-Year-Old Gang-Raped Two Kilometres From Campus

New Delhi: Lady Shri Ram College for Women has shifted its classes online from Tuesday following the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Delhi. The college authorities said there were concerns over the safety of students following a police encounter with the accused in the rape case and that the decision was taken with student safety as the priority.

The girl was gang-raped at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir on Monday evening. Three people are reportedly involved in the attack. The college is located around two kilometres from the site of the incident.

The incident has raised concerns among students and parents about safety in the area. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case. Police said the accused were apprehended after being shot in the legs during an encounter.

However, national media reports have raised questions about the police's account, stating that there were no injuries on the accused's legs and expressing doubts over the explanation.
