14-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped and Gang-Raped in Kanpur; YouTuber Arrested, Police Officer Absconding

Kanpur: A 14-year-old schoolgirl was kidnapped and gang-raped in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A YouTuber has been arrested in connection with the case, while a police officer named as an accused is absconding, officials said. The incident occurred in the Sachendi area.

The girl was abducted around 10 pm on Monday and taken to an isolated location near a railway track, where she was sexually assaulted for several hours. She was later abandoned unconscious in front of her house.

Based on the victim’s statement, a case has been registered against Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Maurya and YouTuber Shivbaran Yadav. Police Commissioner Raghubeer Lal said Yadav has been arrested and four special teams have been formed to apprehend the absconding sub-inspector.

Investigations revealed that the SUV used in the crime belonged to Maurya, who is posted at Bithoor police station and was present in Sachendi at the time of the incident. The victim’s family alleged that when they initially reported the involvement of the sub-inspector, the local police sent them away and attempted to suppress the case.

The girl’s brother also alleged that the police seized her mobile phone and prevented her from returning home until her statement was recorded in court. The family further claimed that the POCSO Act was not invoked initially.

Following the discovery of serious lapses in the investigation, Deputy Police Commissioner (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi was removed from his post, and Sachendi Station House Officer Vikram Singh was suspended. The investigation has been handed over to Additional DCP (West) Kapil Dev Singh.
