Kanpur: Around 25 people fell into a drain outside an examination centre in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, after a concrete drain cover collapsed. The incident occurred at H N Mishra PG College in Mack Robertganj, where candidates had gathered to appear for the B.Ed entrance examination.

Eyewitnesses said the students had crowded near a photocopy shop outside the college gates before entering the exam hall, as the drain ran alongside the shop. As more people gathered, the slab gave way under the combined weight. Four students sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital. Several others had their clothes soiled with mud and their documents — including admit cards — damaged by the drain water.

The incident triggered immediate protests from candidates and their parents, who blamed official negligence for the collapse. Four of those who fell were hospitalised, while the rest were treated at the scene
