John Brittas MP Urges Centre to Ensure JEE Main Exam Access for Students in Bahrain

New Delhi: MP John Brittas has urged the central government to ensure that Indian students in Bahrain are able to appear for the JEE Main 2026 (Session 2), amid disruptions caused by the ongoing tensions in West Asia.
In a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the MP raised serious concerns about the difficulties faced by students and called for immediate intervention.
According to the communication, candidates who had selected Manama as their examination city have now been informed through city intimation slips that the centre is currently unavailable. This has effectively forced students to opt for exam centres outside the region—primarily in India—causing significant inconvenience.
Brittas noted that the prevailing situation in West Asia has already disrupted academic schedules, and uncertainty surrounding examination arrangements is adding to the anxiety of both students and parents.
He urged the Centre to urgently explore options such as reinstating Bahrain as an examination centre or relocating the exam to nearby safe locations within the Gulf region.
The MP also called for contingency measures, including rescheduling exams or providing alternative arrangements if required, while ensuring fairness and uniformity in evaluation standards.
Emphasizing the need for swift action, Brittas said students should not be adversely affected due to circumstances beyond their control.
