Students Protest RSS 'Yuva Kumbh' Event at Jamia Millia Islamia; RTI Reveals ₹76 Lakh Public Funds Spent on RSS Centenary Ads

New Delhi: Student organisations including SFI staged protests at Jamia Millia Islamia university against the holding of an RSS 'Yuva Kumbh' event on campus as part of the organisation's centenary celebrations, condemning it as an attempt to saffronise the institution.

SFI declared that it would not allow the RSS — which it accused of spreading communalism and hatred — to enter university campuses, and that a public university like Jamia Millia could not be used to propagate ideologies of hatred and communal division. The organisation pledged to fight unitedly against the BJP-RSS combine both inside and outside campuses.

Separately, an RTI response has revealed that the Central government spent ₹76,13,129 from the public exchequer on newspaper advertisements as part of the RSS centenary celebrations. The information was disclosed by the Union Ministry of Culture in response to a query filed by RTI activist Ajay Basudev Bose, raising questions about the use of taxpayer funds to promote what critics describe as a political and ideological organisation's anniversary events.
