Woman Climbs IndiGo Counter at Mumbai Airport as Flight Cancellations Spark Nationwide Chaos

Mumbai: The crisis affecting IndiGo flight services triggered dramatic scenes at Mumbai airport, where an agitated foreign woman climbed onto the airline’s counter to protest after her flight was cancelled. The incident occurred on Friday, amid widespread disruptions that left thousands of passengers stranded across the country.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms. While speaking with IndiGo ground staff, the woman — frustrated that no solution was being offered — grabbed the counter’s glass panel and climbed onto the counter barefoot. She said all her belongings were in her checked-in luggage and she had no extra clothes with her. Expressing anger at being stranded without basic facilities, she also demanded food. Staff members were seen trying to calm her down and requested that she step down from the counter.
Other passengers also expressed their displeasure over the travel disruptions. “Eight of us were supposed to go to Raipur, and now we’re stuck here. The flight was cancelled suddenly. We were informed about the cancellation at the gate itself. We have no idea what to do next,” one passenger said.
Similar protests broke out at various airports across the country. In Ahmedabad, a woman broke down in tears after the flight delay caused her to miss a chance to participate in a hackathon in Guwahati. “Seven months of our hard work has gone to waste. We are returning home now. Opportunities like this are rare,” a member of her team said.
