New Delhi: The INDIA bloc has begun a march to the Supreme Court demanding the protection of the democratic system in the country. The march, which started from the Constitution Club, is calling for action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, along with the restoration of voting rights to eligible voters.
CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and other Opposition leaders are participating in the march.
A delegation led by Rahul Gandhi will meet Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and submit a memorandum. A large number of Opposition party workers and leaders, along with civil rights activists, are taking part in the march.
The Supreme Court Chief Justice had denied permission for a meeting with INDIA bloc leaders on Sunday. Following that decision, the alliance decided to organise the large-scale march.
