Dispur: Five military personnel were killed after an Indian Air Force aircraft crashed in Jorhat. The aircraft involved was an An-32 transport aircraft.

There were six people on board at the time of the accident. The co-pilot survived, while five personnel lost their lives. Reports indicate that the aircraft caught fire during the landing process.

According to reports, the aircraft lost control after touchdown and crashed into an open area near the runway in Jorhat. The accident occurred close to one of the Indian Air Force’s key operational bases in Northeast India.

Authorities in the Indian Air Force are currently gathering details and assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The AN-32 remains one of the Indian Air Force’s most widely used transport aircraft and continues to play an important role in military movement and logistics operations across the country.

Reports note that since 1986, around 22 accidents involving AN-32 aircraft have been recorded in India, with the most recent incident before this occurring last year.
