Nahan: A gas leak occurred at a factory in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. Four people were admitted to the hospital. The toxic substance leaking was methylene dichloride from a storage tank at the Tirupati Life Sciences factory in Poanta. According to the police, four employees have been hospitalised.

In the gas leak that occurred on Saturday night, eight employees were injured, and four sought treatment at the hospital, the police said. A case has been registered against the factory management under various sections of the BNS, and the investigation is ongoing, said Sirmaur SP Nishchit Singh Negi.

Methylene chloride, which is widely used as a paint stripper and for other industrial purposes, causes discomfort to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system. Breathing in high concentrations can adversely affect the heart, central nervous system, and liver.
