ED vs TMC: Petitions Filed in Supreme Court Over West Bengal I-PAC Raid

Kolkata: The fight deepens between Enforcement Directorate and Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. Following a raid at the I-PAC office, which was reportedly disrupted under the leadership of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the ED has approached the Supreme Court seeking action. The petition was filed after the High Court deferred hearing in the case.
The ED’s main contention is that the West Bengal state government is obstructing the agency’s authority to conduct a neutral investigation into cases. Meanwhile, the TMC has also filed a counter-objection in the Supreme Court to stop the ED’s proceedings.
Following the ED inspection, the TMC’s election strategy agency, I-PAC, resumed its activities. Mamata Banerjee openly criticized the investigations, claiming that central agencies were being used as political tools by the BJP and that the BJP’s claims of gaining control over Bengal are merely BJP's dreams. TMC is reportedly organizing large-scale protests across the state in response.
