Enforcement Directorate Deputy Director P Radhakrishnan Removed from Service Over Bribery Allegations

New Delhi: P. Radhakrishnan, Deputy Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has been removed from service following bribery allegations, officials said. The action was taken after a preliminary inquiry by the ED found subst ance in the complaints against him.

Radhakrishnan, a Malayali officer, had earlier served as an investigating officer in the 2020 diplomatic gold smuggling case in Kochi. As allegations of corruption surfaced, he was transferred first to Chennai and later to Srinagar. He was serving as Deputy Director in Srinagar when the Ministry of Finance took decisive action against him.

Based on the findings of the preliminary inquiry, the Ministry ordered his compulsory retirement. The decision was approved by the President, and the official order was issued last Friday, sources said.

Earlier, the Vigilance department had submitted a report stating that some ED officials in Kochi were involved in bribery-related dealings. Legal action had already been initiated against an Assistant ED officer in connection with the allegations. In this backdrop, authorities moved against senior officer Radhakrishnan as well.
