DNA Test Confirms Umar Nabi was Behind Wheels of Car Used in Delhi Blast

New Delhi: A DNA analysis has confirmed that the Dr. Umar Nabi was the one behind the wheel of the car that explode near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday evening.


According to police officials, the forensics team matched the DNA sample collected from the remains at the blast site with Umar Nabi's mother's, confirming his identity. The officials have previously confirmed that Nabi was linked to the 'White-Collar' terrorist module- with links to Jaish-e-mohammad- that was behind the 2900 kilo seized explosives from Faridabad.


The investigative team has identified earlier that Nabi worked with doctors Mujamil Shakheel, and Shaheen Shahid, who are under police custody in connection with the Faridabad explosives, at the Al Falah Medical College.

The explosion happened on Monday evening when a slowly moving car exploded suddenly at a traffic signal near Red Fort. So far, 13 people died in the explosion. On Tuesday, MHA officially handed over the case to NIA. Forensics investigation at the blast site suspects that Ammonium Nitrate was used in the explosion.
