Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has triggered political discussion after praising the RSS and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a social media post. Singh noted that grassroots workers of the RSS go on to become Chief Ministers and even Prime Ministers, highlighting what he described as the organisation’s strong structural foundation. He shared a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi sitting at the feet of senior BJP leader LK Advani, remarking that it symbolised the organisational strength of the RSS.

According to media reports, Digvijaya Singh also expressed similar views during the Congress Working Committee meeting. He criticised the Congress party for the lack of decentralisation of power, stating that merely appointing PCC presidents was not enough. He alleged that there was no movement or empowerment at the grassroots level within the party.

Responding to the controversy later, Digvijaya Singh clarified that he had not praised any individual. He said that he had consistently maintained that decentralisation of power was necessary to strengthen the party, and questioned what was wrong in reiterating that long-held position.

Congress leaders praising the BJP and the RSS has become a daily sight these days, increasingly drawn criticism, as it blurs the party’s ideological identity and weakens its opposition role. Earlier, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had publicly acknowledged and commended aspects of the BJP-RSS ecosystem and Prime Minister Modi.
