CPI(M) Delegation Visits Victims of Communal Attack in Uttarakhand, Assures Legal and Medical Support

CPI(M) delegation with the victims
A delegation of the Communist Party of India (M) visited the victims of a communal attack in Uttarakhand, Tabish Ahmad Gani and Danish Ahmad Gani, and their family. The delegation included CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Vijoo Krishnan, Rajendra Purohit, Secretary of the Uttarakhand State Committee, State Secretariat member Nitin Maleta, and State Committee members Kamruddin and Purushottam Badoni.
Tabish Ahmad Gani and his brother Danish Ahmad Gani, residents of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, were attacked in Vikas Nagar, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on January 28. The CPI(M) has stated that the brothers were targeted due to religious profiling and subjected to a communal attack by Hindutva elements.
Tabish sustained a serious head injury and a fracture to his shoulder, while Danish also suffered injuries, including a fractured arm. Both are students of Class 10 in Kupwara, Kashmir. During their winter vacation, they had travelled to Dehradun to support their family by selling shawls when the attack took place.
The CPI(M) alleged that the BJP-led state government has so far failed to take action against the perpetrators and has not extended any assistance to the affected family. The party held the BJP government responsible for fostering an atmosphere of hatred that enables such attacks.
The CPI(M) delegation assured the victims and their family that the party would extend all necessary legal and medical support.
