New Delhi: In a statement, the CPI(M) Polit Buro condemned the ₹60 hike for domestic cylinders, saying it adversely affects even the poor beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The increase of ₹114.50 for commercial cylinders, the statement added, will eventually be passed on to consumers, further burdening middle-class and working people already struggling with rising prices and shrinking incomes.

The Polit Buro criticized the government for refusing to forego tax revenue on cylinders, calling it an anti-people move. It also condemned the central government’s justification of the hike by citing the West Asian conflict, describing it as a “crude attempt to whitewash its own culpability” and a reflection of alignment with US foreign policy under Donald Trump.

The CPI(M) demanded the immediate rollback of the LPG price increase, urging the government to prioritize the interests of the people over international pressures.
