New Delhi: In its official statement, the CPI M questioned why central agencies have failed to investigate reports that the RSS has transferred large sums of money to a US -based lobbying firm with links to Pakistan. The party said that although the RSS does not pay taxes in India, it has allegedly funnelled 330,000 dollars to lobby the US government.
The statement added that the RSS is not registered in India, yet appears as a registered entity in documents submitted to US authorities. It asked whether the RSS is formally registered in the US and why Prime Minister Narendra Modi, himself an RSS member, remains silent. “Who is Modi afraid of?” the party asked.
CPI M General Secretary M A Baby further wrote that while Mohan Bhagwat describes the RSS as a cultural body engaged in nation-building, the organisation must explain why it is spending large amounts of money to influence the United States.
A recent report by Prism Reports claimed that the RSS had hired the US law and lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs to advance its interests, and noted that the same firm also works on behalf of Pakistan.
