CBI Issues Fresh Summons to Actor Vijay, Asks Him to Appear Again on Monday in Karur Stampede Case

New Delhi: The CBI has issued a fresh summons to actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay in connection with the tragic incident that occurred during a party rally in Karur. He has been instructed to appear once again at the CBI office in New Delhi on Monday.
Actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay had earlier appeared before the CBI on January 12, where he was subjected to prolonged questioning. According to reports, investigators asked him a wide range of questions related to the political campaign event held in Karur, during which a deadly stampede occurred.
The CBI reportedly questioned Vijay on who organised the event, whether he had prior knowledge of the arrangements, the reason for his delayed arrival at the venue, and whether any steps were taken to control the swelling crowd. Officials also sought clarity on when he became aware of the seriousness of the situation, whether the local administration had issued any prior warnings, and what arrangements were made for drinking water, security, and safe entry and exit routes.
Sources said Vijay responded to all questions and provided detailed explanations during the interrogation. After the first phase of questioning, he returned to Chennai.
The case pertains to the political campaign programme held in Karur on September 27, 2025, where Vijay was campaigning for TVK. During the rally, a stampede claimed the lives of 41 people, while several others were injured.
