Blast Near Red Fort Metro Station, Eight Feared Dead, Six Injured

New Delhi: A blast in a parked car near Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening triggered panic in the high-security area. The explosion took place near Gate Number 1, in the station’s parking lot, setting off a massive fire that engulfed eight vehicles, two of which were completely destroyed.

According to officials, Eight person is feared dead while Six others sustained burn injuries. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals. Forensic experts and Delhi Police have reached the scene and secured the area.

Delhi Fire Services said they received a call about the explosion around 6:30 p.m., following which five fire tenders were dispatched to the spot. “The fire has been brought under control. Several nearby vehicles were damaged,” a DFS official said.


Police have cordoned off the area, and bomb disposal squads are inspecting the site. The incident comes hours after 304 kilograms of explosives were reportedly seized in Faridabad earlier in the day, raising serious security concerns.

Authorities have placed all metro stations across India on high alert. Security personnel have been directed to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Further investigation is underway.
