New Delhi: Enforcement agencies have seized cash, drugs, liquor, and precious metals worth over 71 crore rupees in Bihar since the announcement of the assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) said on Tuesday.

Bihar has been a dry state since 2016, following a ban on alcohol. According to the EC, as of October 21, coordinated operations by multiple enforcement agencies across states and Union territories have resulted in the seizure of cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other freebies valued at over 71.32 crore rupees.

The EC had announced on October 6 that Bihar would go to the polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.

To ensure prompt action on complaints, 824 flying squads have been deployed across Bihar, with a target to address reported violations within 100 minutes. Citizens and political parties can also report breaches of the model code of conduct through the C-Vigil mobile app or the ECINET digital platform.
