All India Kisan Sabha Criticises Narendra Modi’s Israel Visit, Condemns Shift in Palestine Policy

New Delhi: The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel, describing it as a departure from India’s historical anti-imperialist and pro-Palestinian stance.

In a statement, the AIKS stated that Modi’s engagement with the government led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signified a deepening of India’s strategic partnership with Israel, which it characterised as aligned with United States interests in West Asia. The organisation further claimed that the visit undermines India’s long-standing position of strategic autonomy in foreign policy.

The AIKS also criticised the joint press statement issued following the meeting between the two leaders, arguing that it did not sufficiently address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The organisation added that India had historically supported the Palestinian cause and that any perceived shift in this stance represents a betrayal of that legacy.

According to the statement, the visit resulted in the signing of more than 15 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) across sectors including agriculture, technology, culture and education, as well as agreements related to labour cooperation. The AIKS expressed concern over expanding agricultural collaboration, including proposals to introduce Israeli technology more widely in Indian villages and the reported plan to establish an “India–Israel Innovation Centre for Agriculture.” The organisation claimed that such initiatives could facilitate greater corporate and foreign influence in India’s agrarian sector.

The AIKS further accused that the Modi government’s foreign policy direction is increasingly aligned with the United States and Israel, and called upon peasants and working people to oppose what it described as a surrender of India’s strategic interests.
