Malayalam Cinema Shines at 72nd National Film Awards; Mammootty Wins Best Actor for Fourth Time

New Delhi: Malayalam cinema emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 72nd National Film Awards, with veteran actor Mammootty winning the Best Actor award for his performance in Bramayugam. This marks the fourth National Award for Best Actor in Mammootty's career.
Mammootty shared the Best Actor honour with Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, who was recognised for his performance in Chandu Champion.
The Best Actress award went to Yami Gautam for her role in Article 370.
Playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi won the Best Female Playback Singer award for the song 'Angu Vaana Konil' from the Malayalam film Ajayante Randam Moshanam.
Malayalam cinema also won the Best Cinematography award, with Shehnad Jalal being honoured for his work in Bramayugam.
Actor Dhanush received a Special Mention for his performance in Captain Miller.
The Best Malayalam Film award was presented to Feminichi Fathima.
The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards were announced by the jury chaired by filmmaker Jayaraj.
