YouTuber Arrested in Cyber Attack Case Linked to Rahul Mamkoottathil Allegations

Thiruvananthapuram: A YouTuber has been arrested in connection with the cyber attack against the woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted by MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil. The arrested man is P. Jerrin, a resident of Velur in Kottayam.

He was taken into custody by the Kottayam Cyber Crime Police for sexually insulting the survivor and circulating a defamatory video. Jerrin is the owner of the Facebook page “Voice of Malayali.” The case was registered after officials verified the URL of a defamatory Facebook video link received on November 2 via the official email of the Wayanad District Police Chief.

32 cases have been registered across the state so far, related to cyber attacks against the survivor. Many of them include charges of sexualised abuse and harassment. Action is also being taken against those posting insulting comments about the survivor on social media.

Police surveillance continues across social media platforms. Rahul Easwar remains in custody for cyber-abusing the survivor after she filed a complaint against Rahul Mamkoottathil. He had posted several videos insulting her. Other accused in related cases include Sandeep Warrier and a YouTuber from Palakkad. There are allegations that Sandeep Warrier played a key role in triggering the organised cyber attack.
