Sivankutty Slams Congress for ‘Shielding’ Rahul Mankootathil Amid Serious Allegations

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Minister V. Sivankutty has sharply criticized the Congress leadership, stating that the latest allegations against Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil are extremely serious and cannot be dismissed as a political issue.
According to reports, the complaint alleges not only that a young woman was deceived with a false promise of marriage, but also that she was compelled to become pregnant and later forced into an abortion. “This is not merely a political controversy—it is a grave criminal offence and a direct violation of womanhood,” the minister said.
Sivankutty accused the Congress leadership of “playing hide-and-seek” on the matter. He claimed that the party’s announcement of Rahul Mankootathil’s suspension was nothing more than a drama meant to mislead the public. “Even after the so-called suspension, we clearly see the MLA actively participating in official Congress platforms and election campaigns. The party must clarify whether the suspension exists only on paper,” he demanded.
The minister further criticized Congress leaders who speak loudly about women’s safety but continue to shield their own MLA despite the severity of the accusations. “How can they ask for votes while keeping an accused individual at the forefront? This is an affront to the women and voters of Kerala,” Sivankutty said.
