1,01,856 Voters Untraceable in Kerala; Names Likely To Be Removed After SIR

Thiruvananthapuram: The intensive revision of the voters’ list in Kerala has found that 1,01,856 registered voters could not be traced, according to the State Chief Electoral Officer. These names are likely to be removed from the electoral roll. The Election Commission stated that the addresses of these voters could not be verified, some individuals were found to be deceased, and there were instances of duplicate entries.
However, the Commission has not released details regarding who these “missing” voters are or from which constituencies they belong. There is also no special mechanism in place to ensure that eligible voters are not mistakenly included in this untraceable category.
Meanwhile, thousands across the state are yet to receive the necessary forms for voter-related procedures. Despite informing Booth Level Officers (BLOs), many citizens complain that they have not received clear responses.
Political parties and the public are demanding constituency-wise and booth-level data on the untraceable voters. They argue that there must be a way to confirm that no eligible voter is wrongly categorized as “untraceable.”
The Chief Electoral Officer has stated that the figures will be published soon, after which a joint meeting of BLOs and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) will be held to review the situation. As of Friday evening, information related to 19,90,178 voters had been digitized, and 45,249 applications were submitted online. The CEO also held a meeting with BLOs who have completed 100% digitization. Work is progressing through “collection hubs” set up for receiving and uploading forms.
