Sexual Assault Case: UDF Convenor Defends Mamkoottathil and Insults the Survivor

Pathanamthitta: Political tensions deepened on Saturday as UDF convenor and senior Congress leader Adoor Prakash came out in defense of MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil in the sexual exploitation case, while making disparaging remarks against the survivor. He alleged that the case was part of a political conspiracy orchestrated by the CPI(M), claiming that the survivor had been manipulated by the ruling party.

Adoor Prakash further argued that the survivor’s visit to the Chief Minister’s official residence was staged to fabricate a narrative, accusing the CPI(M) of exploiting her for political gain. When asked by reporters whether he believed the survivor’s complaint was false, he avoided a direct response, stating only: “Let the investigation continue.”

Earlier, Adoor Prakash dismissed the credibility of an audio recording—one in which Mamkoottathil was reportedly heard pressuring the survivor into an abortion—by claiming it was artificially generated using AI technology.
