Technopark Firms Allow Temporary Work-From-Home Following LPG shortage

Kochi: Several companies at Technopark have introduced a temporary work-from-home arrangement for employees following a worsening cooking gas shortage linked to tensions in West Asia.

The companies decided to allow employees to work remotely for one week, from March 15 to March 21, as the shortage of LPG has significantly affected domestic use as well as hotels and restaurants in the city.

With the LPG crisis intensifying, a large number of roadside eateries and restaurants have either shut down or sharply reduced their menus due to difficulties in obtaining commercial cooking gas. Hotel owners say the situation has become challenging as there has been no clear response from the Government of India so far regarding the supply of LPG for commercial use.

Meanwhile, authorities have revised LPG booking intervals in the country in response to the ongoing shortage. In rural areas, the interval between LPG cylinder bookings has been increased to 45 days, while in urban areas the existing interval of 25 days will continue.
