Piravom: Sabu K Jacob, former chairman of Piravom Municipality and ex-member of the KPCC executive committee, has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress. He announced his decision at a press conference in Piravom, stating that his resignation comes in response to the "handover" of the Congress in Piravom to MLA Anoop Jacob. Sabu K Jacob added that he will continue to remain active in public life.

Speaking to the media, Sabu K Jacob alleged that he had been sidelined from party activities under Anoop Jacob’s leadership. He highlighted his tenure as Panchayat President in 2010 and as Chairman of Piravom Municipality in 2015, during which he claimed that Anoop Jacob, then MLA, was unwilling to allocate funds or support development projects in the constituency. He said that even after informing senior Congress leaders—including Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala, and Mullappally Ramachandran—his concerns were ignored, leading to growing tensions with the MLA.

Sabu K Jacob also alleged that certain Congress members in Piravom were acting on instructions from the “Jacob Group,” effectively excluding him from party programs. He said that Anoop Jacob had reportedly written to Opposition Leader V D Satheesan, seeking his removal from the UDF ahead of the 2025 local body elections—a claim confirmed by MP Benny Behanan.

Announcing his future plans, Sabu K Jacob said he would take a political stand and remain active in public affairs, adding that he hope that party workers and leaders will support him.
