Thiruvananthapuram: The RSS has expressed its opposition to the BJP leadership over the suicide of Anand Thirumala. The organisation also levelled open criticism against BJP leader S. Suresh. The objection was specifically about Suresh distancing himself from Anand. The RSS clarified that Anand had links with the organisation. RSS leaders had visited Anand’s house yesterday for the funeral rites.

“There is no need to answer every question from the politically,” said Shasthamangalam Mandal Karyavah Akhil Manohar. His criticism came through a Facebook post. Akhil alleged that Anand was dismissed with a single sentence, without any compassion. He wrote that Suresh’s response showed how politics can degrade a person.

Anand, a resident of Thirumala, died by suicide two days ago. He was found unconscious by friends in a shed behind his house. Though he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, his life could not be saved. Anand had died after leaving a suicide note with serious allegations against BJP leaders.

Excerpts from Akhil Manohar’s post

“Technically, Anand may not have been a BJP worker. But like Anand, there are hundreds of workers who do not have membership, yet whose hard work, time and money contributed to the 35 seats that you proudly display as a golden feather in your cap from the time you were district president. When you answered the media using technicalities, the ones hurt were these sympathisers and workers — the nationalists who still believe in the movement and have no other political option. Yet, without the slightest compassion, you discarded Anand with a single sentence, saying he was not associated with anyone. There is no rule that every question from the media must be answered politically. You have shown how deeply politics can degrade a person.”
