New Delhi: It has been reported that Rahul Gandhi has come out with strong displeasure against Congress leaders in Kerala over the controversies related to the Sabarimala gold theft case. He expressed his unease after Sonia Gandhi’s name was dragged into public discussions by linking her with the primary accused in the case. Rahul Gandhi also conveyed his dissatisfaction over the immature manner in which state leaders handled the issue.

He is particularly unhappy about the circulation of a fake image showing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with Unnikrishnan Potty. After this attempt backfired, authentic photographs of the accused meeting Sonia Gandhi surfaced, opening the door to widespread political debates. Rahul Gandhi views it as deeply problematic that unnecessary fake propaganda created an opportunity for Sonia Gandhi’s name to be pulled into the controversy.

It is also being taken seriously that leaders who were present when the accused Unnikrishnan Potty met Sonia Gandhi have so far failed to provide clear explanations. Congress' Kerala leadership is facing severe criticism for an episode that has pushed the party and its senior leadership into a defensive position.
