Police Yet to Seek Custody of Accused Remanded in Qatar KMCC Robbery Case

Thiruvananthapuram: Police have not sought custody of the accused remanded in connection with the robbery at the Qatar KMCC office. The delay in seeking custody of BJP leader Parappilkkuni Balakrishnan is allegedly due to the intervention of senior Muslim League leaders.
Police had planned to take Balakrishnan, the fourth accused in the case, into custody for questioning. However, they have not yet filed a custody application. Police had earlier expressed hope that questioning Balakrishnan would help them reach the prime accused. The move to seek his custody has slowed following the alleged intervention of senior leaders.
Balakrishnan, who worked as an industrial labourer, went to Qatar last year. The robbery at the KMCC office took place shortly afterwards. He allegedly cut open the strongroom at the office using a gas cutter.
The incident occurred on September 18, 2025, at the KMCC office in Al Thumama, Qatar, where the lock of the strongroom was broken and money was stolen.
Police have yet to arrest the other accused, including Bombay Shaji, a native of Koyilandy; Rashi, from Payyoli; Salih, alias Bava; Hassan, alias Mammali; and Nisar.
