Pregnant Woman and Brothers Brutally Assaulted by RSS–BJP Group in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: A pregnant woman and her two brothers were brutally assaulted by an RSS–BJP group in the capital on Thursday evening. The attack occurred around 7 pm and was carried out by a 15-member gang armed with weapons, led by RSS local leader Lal Praveen along with Ananthu Anilkumar, Gokul, Prashanth, Mahesh and others. All three victims sustained serious injuries.

The assault targeted a Dalit family residing in Vattiyurkkavu, Thiruvananthapuram. The injured have been identified as Anjali (21) and her brothers Ajith (23) and Abhijith (20). According to the family, the incident began when Anjali was cleaning her sister’s nearby house. Neighbour Anil and his son allegedly abused her verbally and behaved indecently without any provocation. When Ajith and Abhijith arrived and questioned their behaviour, the RSS–BJP group accompanying Anil immediately launched a violent attack on them.

Witnessing her brothers being beaten, Anjali rushed out of the house. At this point, Lal Praveen and Ananthu allegedly kicked her in the stomach, knocking her down before further assaulting her. The group then roamed the area with weapons for nearly an hour, creating an atmosphere of fear and threatening to kill anyone who attempted to speak out or testify.

The three injured individuals were admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The accused are currently absconding. Vattiyurkkavu Police have registered a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the investigation is being led by the Cantonment Assistant Commissioner of Police.
