Thrissur: A person has been arrested for uploading a video of Martin, the convict in the actress assault case, which aimed to defame the survivor. This marks the first arrest of someone responsible for sharing the video on social media. The special investigation team, led by Thrissur City Police Commissioner Nakul R Deshmukh, apprehended the individual, a resident of Wayanad. The police have not disclosed further details about the accused due to the confidential nature of the investigation.
The video shows Martin, the second convict in the assault case, speaking, and it went viral on social media following the verdict. Police have determined that it was recorded with the deliberate intent of tarnishing the survivor’s reputation.
Authorities are currently monitoring over 200 websites where the video has been shared. Commissioner Deshmukh stated that action is being taken against anyone involved in distributing the content, with those sharing it being named as accused in the case.
Police suspect that the video may be part of a larger conspiracy. Investigations are also underway to determine whether anyone provided financial support to circulate posts aimed at maligning the survivor on social media. Similarities have been observed in the language used in posts targeting the survivor, and it was also found that the video had been uploaded on Facebook pages for commercial purposes.
