Over 500 New Posts and Salary Revisions Announced: Cabinet Decisions in the State

Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister, decided to create 523 new posts in the Health Department, Public Service Commission (PSC), and the Judiciary. Along with introducing revolutionary reforms in sports quota appointments, salary revisions and benefits have been announced for employees across various sectors.
Health Inspector Grade-II positions will be created in 436 Grama Panchayats that currently do not have temporary positions. Appointments will be made on a contractual basis through the Employment Exchange. A total of 35 new positions have been sanctioned across various categories, ranging from Joint Secretary to Security Guard.
Additionally, 52 more posts, including Junior Superintendent and Bench Clerk, have been created to expedite court proceedings. Applications will soon be invited for 243 vacancies under the sports quota for the period 2020–24. Achievements in Khelo India University Games and international championships will also be considered for qualification.
An amendment has been made stating that individuals involved in the stimulant drug controversy will be eligible for appointment based on other merits after completing their punishment period. The eleventh salary revision has been granted to Kerala Bharat Scouts & Guides employees, and the seventh AICTE salary revision has been granted to the faculty of LBS Engineering College.
The retirement age of permanent employees of Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited has been increased from 58 to 60. It has also been decided to provide jobs to the dependents of employees who die while serving in supernumerary positions. Marcus Unani Medical College will be granted aided status.
The borrowing limit of civil service corporations has been increased from Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 3,500 crore. A loan will be received from Germany’s KFW Bank to mitigate wildlife conflicts. Administrative approval has been granted for the construction of the Pathanamthitta Avanippara Tribal Colony Bridge (Rs 2.19 crore) and the Kasaragod Munambam Bridge (Rs 22.11 crore).
As a humanitarian consideration, the Cabinet has decided to appoint P. S. Saiju, a differently-abled person who lost the opportunity due to the PSC’s delay in reporting the vacancy, as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in Ernakulam district.
