Notorious Thief Bunty Chor Detained by Thiruvananthapuram RPF for Questioning

Thiruvananthapuram: Notorious thief Bunty Chor (Devinder Singh) has been taken into custody by the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Protection Force (RPF). Bunty claimed that he had come to the city to meet his lawyer, but railway police said interrogation is underway to determine whether there were any suspicious activities during his travels.
Though Bunty told officers that he was in the city to meet an advocate regarding a case registered at the Peroorkada Police Station, he was taken into custody for further questioning. Police are investigating whether his movements across various locations involved any criminal activity.
Bunty Chor was also detained briefly by Railway Police at the Ernakulam South Railway Station the previous day. Around 8.30 PM on Sunday, RPF officers conducting inspections noticed him in the waiting area and questioned him after becoming suspicious. He confirmed that he had arrived by train from Delhi. Since there are no active cases or warrants against him at the moment, he was later released.
Bunty told police he had come to Kochi to meet Adv. B.A. Aloor to collect documents related to a theft case in Thrissur from which he had been released earlier. He claimed he was unaware that Aloor had passed away. Police said he was carrying only a bag containing clothes when taken into custody.
Bunty Chor is accused in more than 700 theft cases across multiple states. He was arrested in January 2013 for a burglary at a house in Marappalam, Thiruvananthapuram, and served a 10-year prison sentence. After being released, he returned to theft and was arrested again in 2023 by the Delhi Police from Uttar Pradesh.
