Class 9 Girl Attempts Suicide After Repeated Physical Assault by Father

Thiruvananthapuram: A Class 9 student attempted to take her own life after being unable to bear the brutal violence inflicted by her alcoholic father. The incident took place in Neyyattinkara. The girl, who suffered serious injuries, has been admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

According to her statement, her father routinely comes home drunk and mercilessly beats both her and her mother. The assault usually takes place after he locks them inside the house. The girl also said that after beating her, he usually throws her out of the house at night.

An audio message the girl sent to someone from her phone has surfaced, in which she says she was not allowed to go to school or study and was constantly subjected to violence. She has suffered injuries on her hands, face, and legs from the severe assault, and images of the injuries have also emerged. The girl continues to undergo treatment.
