LDF Manifesto Pledges Guarantees, Not Promises, Says CPI(M) State Secretary M V Govindan

Kannur: CPI(M) State Secretary M V Govindan on Wednesday declared that everything contained in the LDF election manifesto would be implemented, describing the document as a guarantee rather than a mere electoral promise. He asserted that the LDF government in Keralam is the only government in India that has presented a progress report to the public on the implementation of its manifesto commitments.

Govindan drew a sharp contrast with the Congress and BJP, saying both parties have themselves acknowledged over the years that their manifestos are campaign tools rather than action plans. He cited the Congress slogan "Garibi Hatao," repeated for decades without meaningful results, as a prime example. The people of Keralam, he said, know from experience that it is the LDF government that actually delivers on its manifesto pledges.

Speaking at the manifesto launch event in Kozhikode — where Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan released the document in the presence of LDF Convenor T P Ramakrishnan, CPI leader K Prakash Babu, K Krishnankutty, A K Saseendran, and CITU All India General Secretary Elamaram Kareem — Govindan said the front's 60-point program and 950 pledges would be handled in a manner that delivers tangible outcomes to the people.

The manifesto, he noted, is grounded in secularism and framed as a resistance to central government neglect, and covers advances across extreme poverty eradication, social security, disaster management and rehabilitation, public education and health, Green Keralam, good governance, decentralisation, gender equality, infrastructure, higher education reform, industry, IT, and tourism. The overarching vision, Govindan said, is to transform Keralam into a knowledge society within five years and to complete the Nava Keralam mission that the LDF has pursued over the past decade.
