Actor Meenakshi Praises Kerala Government at Children’s Festival, Says Government Stands with People

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Meenakshi said at event that Kerala has a government that stands by its people whenever they face difficulties. She was speaking at the 2025–26 Children’s Festival, “Varnnachirakukal,” held in Thiruvananthapuram.
The festival, being held at the Government Women’s College, Thiruvananthapuram, was inaugurated by Health Minister Veena George. Meenakshi said Veena George is a minister whom people can approach freely with any need or concern.
She added that her presence at the event and the opportunity she received were possible due to the government. “This is a time in Kerala when people are heard,” Meenakshi remarked.
Around 1,000 students are participating in the festival across 22 competition categories. The event also witnessed the presentation of the Ujjwala Balya Award to students who have demonstrated excellence in various fields.
Children from child care institutions under the Department of Women and Child Development are participating in Varnnachirakukal. The festival has become a platform showcasing students who have excelled not only academically but also in art, sports, and cultural activities.
This year, children from entry homes functioning under the Nirbhaya project have also been included. Students from different districts who have shown outstanding talent in various fields were honoured with the Ujjwala Balya Award, presented by Minister Veena George.
