Two Police Personnel Missing After Boat Capsizes in Lakshadweep

Kochi: Two police personnel are missing at sea after a boat capsized in Lakshadweep. Kavaratti Police Station constables K M Nabeel, 34, and K C Hidayathulla, 49, who had been deployed for duty at the outpost on Suheli Island, are missing.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening. The boat capsized after being caught in strong waves while the policemen were on a patrol. Constable Umar, who was travelling with them, survived by swimming to safety. He reached the shore after swimming for nearly six hours and subsequently informed his superiors.
A search operation was conducted with the assistance of fishermen, but the missing personnel could not be located. The boat in which they had been travelling was recovered.
Suheli is an uninhabited island where police personnel are usually deployed for security purposes. Nabeel is a native of Kavaratti, while Hidayathulla is from Andrott.
Umar, who survived the incident, was brought to Kavaratti by helicopter. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
