KSRTC Passengers Can Now Order from 'Chicking' Onboard Long-Distance Buses

Thiruvananthapuram: Passengers travelling on KSRTC long-distance buses will soon be able to enjoy food from “Chicking” during their journey. Travelers can place food orders directly from the bus, and the meals will be delivered to their seats as parcels from the nearest bus station or Chicking outlets along the route.
Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar announced at a press conference that KSRTC has reached an agreement with Chicking for this initiative. In the first phase, food service will be available on five Super Class services and budget tourism trips, with plans to gradually expand it to other long-distance buses.
Each bus will be fitted with a QR code for ordering food. Scanning the code will display the menu and details of the nearest food outlet. The food will be delivered when the bus reaches the station or a Chicking outlet en route. A dedicated booking website will also be launched soon, the minister said.
Food will be provided at 25 percent lower prices than market rates, and five percent of the sales revenue will go to KSRTC. Passengers will be able to order food from 140 locations along national and state highways. The agreement also includes a provision to provide free meals to drivers and conductors when buses halt at Chicking outlets.
