Ten Boats Destroyed in Massive Fire at Kollam' Kureepuzha

Kollam: A massive fire broke out in Kureepuzha, Kollam, destroying several boats anchored in the lake. Around ten boats were completely destroyed in the incident, which occurred around 2 am. Nine small boats used for traditional deep-sea fishing and one fiber boat were destroyed.

The boats, which belonged to fishermen from the Kulachal and Poovar regions, had been moored in the lake after returning from fishing when the fire erupted. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Rescue efforts were hindered by the explosion of gas cylinders stored on the boats.

Local residents managed to move several nearby boats to safety, preventing the fire from spreading and averting a bigger disaster. No injuries have been reported.
