Kerala Model Is About Progress; ‘Vision 2031’ Aims to Define What Kerala Should Be Like in 2031, Says Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: With Kerala set to mark 75 years since its formation in 2031, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the Vision 2031 initiative aims to define what the state should aspire to become by that milestone year. He was inaugurating an international conference organized as part of the program.
Seminars have been conducted across the state under the Vision 2031 banner, and the conference is being held as a continuation of those deliberations. The Chief Minister noted that a vast majority of Keralites once lived in conditions of severe hardship, but significant progress has been achieved over the decades.
“The Kerala model marked a breakthrough in development, and it continues to be a subject of study,” he said.
Describing the construction of a “New Kerala” as the next step in the state’s developmental journey, the Chief Minister said the conference forms part of that broader vision. He emphasized that the initiative is intended not merely to commemorate past achievements, but to set ambitious goals for the future.
Highlighting Kerala’s strong base of educated citizens, he said that earlier misconceptions about the state’s industrial and IT development had been effectively countered. He stressed the need for a robust and sustainable infrastructure development model to support further growth.
Despite various challenges, 33 seminars were successfully conducted as part of Vision 2031, he added. The Chief Minister underscored that the program’s success would not belong to the government alone, but to every individual in the state.
