Keralam Weather: Yellow Alert Issued in Kannur and Kasaragod, Isolated Heavy Rain Expected

Thiruvananthapuram: Rain is likely in some parts of Keralam today, with the India Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert in two districts. Kannur and Kasaragod are under the yellow alert, with isolated heavy rainfall expected. No rain warnings are currently in place for the other districts.
Heavy rainfall refers to rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department said there is no restriction on fishing activities today along the Keralam, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. Strong winds with speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, are likely over the southwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining southern Sri Lankan coast and the Kanyakumari region.
Strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally reaching 60 kmph, along with rough weather conditions, are also likely along the Andaman coast, the department warned.
During the next three hours, isolated moderate rainfall and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 30 kmph are likely in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Isolated light rainfall is also likely in Kollam and Wayanad districts during the same period.
