Kerala Provides Safe Haven: Monalisa Marries on Malayali Soil

Thiruvananthapuram: Viral star Monalisa, who had sought refuge in Kerala, has got married. Monalisa married Farman, a resident of Maharashtra, with the intervention of the Kerala police. The wedding was held at the Arumanur Nainar Temple near Poovar. Monalisa had come to Kerala seeking protection after her family opposed her relationship.

Her marriage was facilitated after the police convinced her family. Monalisa had approached the Thampanoor police station with a complaint seeking protection from her father.

She fell in love with Maharashtra native Farhan one and a half years ago. Upon learning about this, Monalisa revealed that her family was planning to marry her off to someone else, but she wanted to live with Farhan, who belongs to a different religion. The police intervened and persuaded her family to accept the relationship. Both Monalisa and Farhan said they came to Kerala because it felt like a safe place.

CPIM state secretary M.V. Govindan, Education Minister V. Sivankutty, and MP A.A. Rahim attended the wedding ceremony. Sivankutty said that this is the real Kerala story. A A Rahim described the wedding as taking place in heaven, with the name of that heaven being Kerala.

Two independent individuals, a young woman from Madhya Pradesh and a young man from Maharashtra, decided to marry. When problems arose regarding their decision, the place in India where they felt safest was Kerala. They chose to hold the wedding at the Arumanur Nainar Temple, established by Sree Narayana Guru. According to Sree Narayana Guru, a person’s goodness matters more than their religion, and the essence of all religions is humanity. Following the Guru’s principles, Monalisa and Farhan have decided to lead their life guided by these values. This, according to M.V. Govindan, is the real Kerala story and an exemplary display of secularism.
