Thiruvananthapuram: The fourth edition of the Kerala Legislature International Book Festival (KLIBF) fourth edition will draw to a close tomorrow, bringing a week-long celebration of literature, culture, and dialogue to the capital city.

The closing ceremony will be inaugurated by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at 3 pm in the R Shankaranarayanan Thampi Hall of the Legislative Assembly. The keynote address will be delivered by former President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim.

The event will be presided over by Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer and attended by Food & Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil, Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar, MLAs V K Prashanth and Ramesh Chennithala, and Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V V Rajesh, among others.

The ceremony will also feature the release of books published by the Legislative Assembly and the presentation of the Kerala Legislative Assembly Media Awards.

Since its inauguration on January 7, the festival has hosted a range of events, including KLAIBF Talks, dialogues, literary gatherings, author interactions, storytelling sessions, poetry performances, and solo theatre productions. Over 300 book publications were showcased, alongside more than 75 book discussions. A specially curated Students’ Corner attracted enthusiastic young readers.

A unique highlight of this year’s festival was the live performance of Theyyam, the ritual art form of North Malabar. Spectators thronged the Assembly premises to witness traditional Theyyams such as Pookkuttichathan Thira, Muthappan Vellattam, Padaveeran, Kuttichathan Thira, and Agnikanthakarnan, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the literary festivities.

The week-long festival offered visitors a chance to engage with authors, explore new books, revisit classics, enjoy cultural performances, and immerse themselves in lively literary discussions.
