Thiruvananthapuram: Speaker A N Shamseer announced at a press conference that the fourth edition of the Kerala Legislative Assembly International Book Festival drew over two lakh visitors, marking it as a resounding success. The festival hosted 173 distinguished guests, including nationally and internationally renowned personalities, who participated in various sessions. A total of 170 publishers set up 282 book stalls. This year, a dedicated stall was introduced to showcase tools for visually impaired visitors.
The festival featured 16 food courts offering a diverse range of cuisines. A specially designed Students’ Corner attracted thousands of students and provided a platform for emerging young talents. The participation of several differently-abled students was a highlight, adding to the inclusive spirit of the event. Programs such as city rides benefitted numerous schools across and beyond the city. A unique feature of this year’s festival was the presentation of seven Theyyam performances over five days on a specially constructed stage within the Legislative Assembly premises. Thousands of visitors, including international tourists, attended each day to witness and learn about Theyyam, a ritual art form native to northern Kerala. Speaker Shamseer also highlighted the use of online platforms and digital technologies to enhance the festival’s outreach and promotion.
