Kerala Government Sanctions 93.72 Crore Rupees Additional Aid to KSRTC

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has sanctioned an additional assistance of 93.72 crore rupees to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal said on Saturday. Of the total amount, 73.72 crore rupees has been earmarked for pension disbursement, while 20 crore rupees has been set aside to meet other operational requirements of the corporation.
With the latest release, the total financial support extended to KSRTC during the current financial year has risen to 1,201.56 crore rupees. This includes 731.56 crore rupees allocated for pension payments and 470 crore rupees provided as special assistance. In the state budget for the year, 900 crore rupees had been earmarked for the corporation, and the additional 301.56 crore rupees was sanctioned over and above the budget provision.
The finance minister noted that during the tenure of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government, KSRTC has so far received government assistance amounting to 8,027.72 crore rupees. During the first Pinarayi Vijayan government, the corporation had been provided with 5,002 crore rupees in financial support. Together, the two governments have extended a total assistance of 13,029.72 crore rupees to KSRTC.
In comparison, the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government had provided 1,467 crore rupees in assistance to the corporation over its five-year term, Balagopal said.
