Malappuram: Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty said the government is seriously examining the possibility of conducting the State School Kalolsavam (arts festival) and the Special School Kalolsavam together in the coming years. Speaking to reporters in Malappuram, he said the proposal is aimed at ensuring greater opportunities and equal recognition for students who require special support.

This year’s Special School Kalolsavam witnessed the participation of 3,100 students, with competitions held across 106 categories. Students who secured an A grade for outstanding performances received prize money of 1,000 rupees each.

The government also provides a participation allowance of 1,500 rupees to each Special School that takes part in the festival. Sivankutty said 35 lakh rupees from the Plan Fund had been earmarked for the successful conduct of this year’s event.

He added that inclusive sports have already been incorporated into the State School Olympics, making Kerala the first state in the country to implement such an inclusive sports model.
