K Sudhakaran Denies Reports of Being Summoned to Delhi by Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader K Sudhakaran
Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader K Sudhakaran has denied reports that he was summoned to New Delhi by Rahul Gandhi amid the ongoing dispute over seat allocation within Congress.
Sudhakaran said he would not travel to Delhi for discussions that had neither been decided nor formally initiated by the party high command. He also revealed earlier that Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan had not contacted him regarding the issue.
The former KPCC president has repeatedly expressed his desire to contest from the Kannur Assembly constituency. However, the proposal faced resistance from sections within the party, with some leaders arguing that sitting MPs should not contest in the upcoming state Assembly elections.
Reports have also suggested that the move to keep MPs out of the contest was not a directive from the national leadership but a recommendation from certain leaders in Kerala. According to these claims, the stance was adopted as part of an effort to sideline Sudhakaran. KPCC president Sunny Joseph is also believed to have supported the position alongside Satheesan.
The internal tensions intensified after media reports suggested that Rahul Gandhi had asked Sudhakaran to come to Delhi for talks. Sudhakaran has now dismissed those reports.
The controversy comes at a time when the party leadership is struggling to finalise candidates even for half of the constituencies despite two rounds of discussions in Delhi. The situation worsened after Sudhakaran returned from the capital expressing dissatisfaction and subsequently posted a message on Facebook, putting the Congress leadership on the defensive.
